How it started

Bar Pulpería Celta was founded in 1970 by a Galician couple with the idea of bringing the best of their gastronomic traditions to Barcelona. That year, the football team Celta de Vigo CF had made it to first division of the Spanish National Football League, and that gave the happy Galician man a good idea to name his bar. With this honest declaration of identity and intentions, stating clearly their culture and roots, our octopus house was born.

 

Nowadays, the second and third generations of the same family are keeping alive what that couple started in the seventies, with the same dedication and liking of Galician cooking.

WHERE WE ARE

Bar Celta was first open in the number 16 of La Mercè street, where it still is nowadays, at the heart of the gothic area, which in the seventies was the nerve center of the young nights of Barcelona. The quality of its products and the reasonable prices made Celta a round success from the very beginning, becoming the apple of the eye of Barcelona’s youth when it came to sharing tapas with friends, relax and start the party. On September 2012, we open the doors of our new premises in 50, Princesa Street, in the middle of the Borne area, an emblematic district of Barcelona known as “the waterside quarter” in the old days, since an enormous irrigation channel that brought water from the Besós river crossed the streets of medieval Barcelona. Today, the Borne is the “it” district of our city thanks to its never-ending offer of shops, bars, restaurants and museums that fill its little streets, making it a must for both locals and the most visited by tourists. At a privileged crossroads, Princesa with Comercio streets, our octopus house also lives nowadays.

    grupoGrab a bite with us at any time of the day! We maintain our long opening hours, our kitchen opens from 8.30 to midnight. Fast service and the ability to host a lot of people at the same time without anyone being left unattended is the mark of a good tapas bar, and of course, has been our strong point since 1970. Come enjoy with us! There will always be room for you, no matter if you come with a group, big or small, with your couple or by yourself; a few tapas at Celta are always a great experience...
